A heartly Welcome to Mazlemian's Goldsmithing shop!
The art of the silver and goldsmith for the Armenians dates to pre-Urartian times, having developed concurrently with other related arts.
Because of the creativity of the craftsmen and the encouragement of the Armenian people , silver and gold-smithing remained in the forefront of the Armenian artistic expression . The mountainous topography and the harsh wintery climate proved to be significant factors as they conspired to confine the artisans to their homes of long periods which could be devoted to their art.
The goldsmith
Goldsmithing is our heritage given from father to son(s), already for 4 generations long.
Exactly when our family began with goldsmithing is not clear. The first registered information comes from Yervant Mazlemian, who began his workshop in mid 19th century in West Armenia (now east Turkey)
In 1922, and because of the genocide commited against the Armenians, the family Mazlemian were forced to run away from their homeland to France and Egypt.
